It is mentioned in Fernán González's oath. It is referred to in the year 974 regarding an exchange with Albelda Monastery. It belonged to Prince Ramiro and then to the monastery in Nájera. There are some well-known chalk quarries.
-Surrounding area: The 13th century, Romanesque Virgen del Plano Chapel which is 2 km from Leza. It is a brick building with corner ashlars. The San Martín (torn down), San Roque (18th century Baroque) and El Cristo (18th century) Chapels. The town's bridge over the River Leza has two low arches supported by piers with triangular-shaped stone cutwaters. The bridge probably dates back to the 16th century.

Tourism resources:
The Parish Church of Santa María la Blanca was built in different moments between the 15th and 18th centuries. It is built in ashlar with a single three section nave, and an octagonal chancel with five facing walls. It has a high choir at the base and a small baptistery. Noblemen mansions. Excellent views.
