Aldeanueva de Ebro is a municipality in La Rioja that is part of the Alfaro district. It is 10 kilometres from Calahorra and 65 kilometres from Logroño. The municipality dates back to the 11th century, when it was settled by shepherds from the Cameros region and from Calahorra following Calahorra's recapture by King García Sánchez III of Nájera in 1045. It was a village belonging to Calahorra until 1664, during the reign of Felipe IV, when the friars at the Fitero Monastery, which was linked to the village, lent the villagers a significant amount of money and it became an independent town. Following many claims, the village then called Arnedo de Ebro was handed to Manuel Íñiguez of Arnedo.

Alfaro is a city and municipality within the autonomous region of La Rioja. Alfaro is in the east of the province, in the Lower Rioja area. It is the main city in the district of Alfaro and the largest municipality in the whole of La Rioja; it borders the autonomous region of Navarre. On the 1 January 2009, the population was 9,883 according to data from the Spanish national institute of statistics (INE). It is the fifth most populated city after Logroño, Calahorra, Arnedo and Haro. The River Ebro crosses the north of the municipality and the River Alhama flows into the Ebro having encircled Alfaro to the west.

Anguiano is a municipality in the Upper Rioja area of the autonomous region of La Rioja, Spain. There are three neighbourhoods in this town: Mediavilla, Eras and Cuevas. Mediavilla is the largest and houses the town hall, the San Andrés parish Church and many nobles' houses. Livestock farming is the traditional activity in the Cuevas neighbourhood, which houses the San Pedro Church. The River Najerilla separates Cuevas from Mediavilla and the two are connected by the Madre de Dios bridge. Eras is a farming neighbourhood where the majority of the village's barns were located, although there are several nobles' houses as well. The Aidillo gully separates Eras from Mediavilla and in the past, the Puentecilla bridge was the only way to cross this gully. The village is famous for its dancers on stilts, which is said to be La Rioja's oldest folk tradition.
