- 6 h 33 min
- 20.02 km
San Román (00 min) Leave the village by the main road that leads towards Laguna de Cameras and passes next to the Ecomuseum Molino del Corregidor. After 20 minutes, take the road on the left to Ajamil, cross the bridge over the Leza River and turn left to Vadillos. 20 minutes later, leave a crossroads and the bridge to Hornillos on the left. 300 metres after the crossroads, leave the road for a route on the left that, after a few metres, leads to the old path to Munilla, parallel to the Vadillos River. Go upstream following the path until you reach the remains of an old traditional bridge. Bridge over the Vadillos River (52 min) Wade across the river and, after 30 metres, turn left and take a route among old crops. Go up the La Dehesa Ravine. The landscape is dry with needle furzes. On the right side of the ravine there are limestone rocks and steppes, and on the left, siliceous rocks. After 15 minutes, cross the Hornillos Stream and then a gate at the boundary mark between San Román and Ajamil. Continue up the ravine on the well-marked hillside route, until you see the tower of Torremuña Church. Continue until you reach a stream with a destroyed bridge. Stream (1 h 52 min) Wade across the stream and turn right to zigzag up a steep stone path. After 5 minutes the slope becomes smoother. Follow a route that goes along the edge of the bottom part of Torremuña until it reaches a trail. Trail (2 h 09 min) Continue down the trail to the right. After 7 minutes, there is a crossroads. The one on the left goes to Torremuña. Follow the trail to the right and, after 40 metres, at another crossroads, take the one on the left. After crossing a partially covered cattle grid, leave the trail and take the old path to the right, near the remains of a chapel. Remains of the El Humilladero Chapel (2 h 15 min) There is a fountain next to the chapel. Continue ascending to the southeast on a path parallel to the trail of La Dehesa. After 8 minutes, the trail disappears and you continue up the La Dehesa Ravine among pastures and needle furzes until you reach a fountain near a livestock pavilion. Partentoria Fountain (2 h 45 min) This is a fountain with refreshing water located inside the meadow of Torremuña surrounded by beeches, oaks and maple trees. From the fountain, go up a steep slope for about 50 metres, cross the Torremuña trail to the hill of La Dehesa and continue ascending among pastures to the southeast. The path runs on the hillside and leaves the trees of the meadow on the right, until you reach a hill with a trail. Collado de la Dehesa (3 h 02 min) It divides the waters between the Leza and the Cidacos Rivers. It provides great views of Cameros Viejos (Muro and Torre) and of the Cidacos Basin (Peña Isasa, Peñalmonte and Hayedo de Santiago). Once on the trail, continue to the right for about 100 metres and exit the route on the right. Descend on the hillside to a trough with a fountain. Pass the trough and you will reach a trail that you will take to the left, towards a livestock pavilion. Livestock pavilion (3 h 15 min) Next to the pavilion there is a crossroads. Ignore the trail on the left that leads to the hill of La Dehesa and continue straight. After a cattle grid, exit the trail, which continues towards La Santa. Take a route to the right, parallel to a fence. After crossing a hawthorn and a dense shrub area, take the old path to Munilla. Descend on the hillside among flat stones and old estates. After a zigzag, you will reach a stream. High Valley Ravine (3 h 31 min) Wade across the stream and continue on a by-path that runs parallel to a fence. After a small ravine, go up a by-path, always leaving the fence to the right, until you reach a hill at the boundary mark between Hornillos y Zarzosa. Hill (3 h 43 min) You can get a panoramic view of the Cidacos Valley.
