Zarratón is a municipality within the autonomous region of La Rioja. It is in the northwest of the province. The municipality is under the local jurisdiction of Haro. In many documents from the Middle Ages, the municipality is mentioned as Cerratón. The roots of the name come from the Spanish noun cerro (hill) and not from the idea expressed in Basque documents that it comes from the words zarra (which means 'old') and ton ('very or lots'). It is also known as the village of the seven chapels and the seven dances.

It was known as the village of the seven churches, one in each district. Currently, the spectacular parish church, dedicated to La Asunción (13th c.), is worth mentioning.
