Long Description:
Villavelayo is a municipality in the autonomous region of La Rioja in the Demanda Mountains. It is in the far southwest of the region, at around 940 metres.
-Location: It is part of the district of Logroño. It is in the far south of the Demanda Mountains, upstream of the River Najerilla.
-Area: 40 km2.
-Height: 964 metres.
-Economy: The main activity here is livestock farming.
Tourism resources:
Parish Church with Romanesque remains in which the valuable 15th century processional cross, a silversmith work of art, stands out. Palace of Fernán González with a shield. Villavelayo is full of typical red stone buildings with Arabic tile.
