Varea is a less important area attached to the municipality of Logroño. It is to the east of the city's main centre, alongside the River Iregua.
-Location: District 2, section 10 of the municipality of Logroño. It is in the east of the city of Logroño.
-Area: Varea covers 1741.30 hectares
-Height: Varea stands at 377 metres above sea level.
-Populated areas, neighbourhoods or villages: There are small populated areas in Tejera, the 'Cónsul estate' in the Varsalado area, the 'Igay estate' and the 'Viveros Provedo estate' in Chivero, which are essentially farming areas.
-Economy: Crops (vegetables, fruit and vine growing) and livestock farming (cattle, goats and poultry). There is a lot of industrial activity on the La Portalada industrial estate, which is now in its third stage, meaning that there is now much greater diversity in terms of employment and farming is gradually being pushed into a secondary role. There are two wineries that are very characteristic of the Rioja Designation of Origin quality label and another winery that sells its wine from Varea.
- Roman ruins at the entrance of Varea when coming from the road from Zaragoza. The visitor can enjoy a beautiful rebuilt area, where he can see Roman ruins and a part of the Roman road. As well as the beautiful landscape that surrounds the Iregua River where it flows into the Ebro River.
