Long Description:

Tormantos is a municipality in the autonomous region of La Rioja. It is in the far west of La Rioja in the area called Upper Rioja, bordering the province of Burgos. It lies on the fertile plains of the Tirón Valley. In fact it is the first Riojan town to cross the River Tirón.
-Location: It is part of the district of Santo Domingo. The municipality is in the Tirón Valley.
-Area: 10.9 km2.
-Height: 609 metres.
-Economy: This is essentially a farming town and the main crops are grain, wheat and barley. A small amount of grapes and irrigated crops are produced.

Tourism resources:

The Parish Church of San Esteban (16th century) was built over the old Romanesque church. On the left wall of the portico there is a headstone in Latin. The image of the Virgen de Nápoles (“The Neapolitan” as the Tormantos inhabitants fondly call her) also stands out. Palace of Ruy López-Dávalos, constable of Castilla, exiled from Burgos by D. Álvaro de Luna during the reign of Juan II. The building maintains the structure intact in the canvas of the main facade, where the family shield is still preserved.
