Long Description:

Matute is a municipality in the autonomous region of La Rioja.
-Location: It is part of the district of Nájera. It is in the Alto Najerilla area.
-Area: 25.6 km2.
-Height: 680 metres.
-Economy: The municipality's economy is based on livestock farming, particularly sheep and cattle.

Tourism resources:

The San Román Mártir Church was built in the 16th century in dressed stone and rough ashlar. It has two naves with three sections, chancels, and a choir at the base. The church has two portals: the south portal has the group of the Lamentation in the tympanum. In its interior it is worth mentioning the 16th century reredos. In it the baptism certificate of the poet Villegas is kept. Mansion where Villegas was born. Noble stone buildings with shields.
