Briones is a municipality in the autonomous region of La Rioja. Briones is in the northwest of the province on a hill that is 80 metres high. The northern side of the town slopes almost vertically over the River Ebro.
-Location: It is part of the district of Haro. It is on the right bank of the River Ebro.
-Area: 37.8 km2.
-Height: 501 metres.
-Economy: Grapes, fruit and vegetables are the main crops produced here.
Monumental urban ensemble. Majestic Renaissance Church of La Asunción built in the 16th century mixed with the style of the Catholic Monarchs. It has three naves, octagonal chancel and Baroque tower of the Beratúa, in a beautiful square full of emblazoned mansions. The highlights are the temple’s access portal, the semicircular triumphal arch and the triangular decorated pediment. The interior houses a header reredos and several canvases on the life of Christ. Palace of the Marquis of San Nicolás. The highlights of the Chapel of Santo Cristo de los Remedios are the presbytery Baroque reredos in the interior, with images of the Virgen, San Juan Evangelista and San Juan Bautista. A promenade surrounded by trees circles the village.
