Bañares is a municipality in La Rioja, Spain. It is in the district of Santo Domingo de la Calzada, around 45 km to the west of Logroño. The main activity is farming. The main crops are potatoes, grain, beet and green beans.
-Location: The town is part of the district of Santo Domingo de la Calzada. It is on the right bank of the River Oja.

-Economy: This is a farming town that produced mainly potatoes.
It is worth mentioning the impressive Parish Church of La Santa Cruz, dated 15th and 16th centuries, which has a single nave with chapels between the buttresses, rectangular chancel and a two story tower. Its interior has a huge Rococo reredos and the medieval chest with the relics of San Formerio in the sacristy. These relics are the master pieces of the enamelwork of La Rioja in the 14th century. A great example of the Late Romanesque, the Santa María de la Antigua Chapel, dated at the end of the 12th century, is nowadays in front of the church. It was moved stone by stone. The sculptures of the five archivolt portico represent the adoration of the Magi. It is a building with a square floor plan and gable roof.
