Agoncillo is a municipality within the autonomous region of La Rioja. The Logroño-Agoncillo airport, which is the only one in the region, is in the municipal area.
-Location: It is part of the district of Logroño.
-Area: 34.1 km2.
-Height: 346 metres.
-Populated areas, neighbourhoods or villages: The Recajo neighbourhood and the Atayuela and El Olivar country houses.
-Economy:Today it is a booming town thanks to the nearby "El Sequero" industrial estate and to its prosperous irrigated farming.
Of the 15th century medieval Aguas Muertas Castle, only the southeast tower remains, which was built in the 13th and 14th centuries. In the central access keystone, we find the Calatrava Cross. This castle, that was declared an historic and artistic monument, currently accommodates the city council. The Parish Church of Santa María la Blanca was built in the 18th century, although its first ashlar construction dates 16th century. It has a rectangular floor plan with three sections and different proportions. In its interior the 16th century great reredos and a Mannerist image of the Ecce Homo stand out. Leaning tower at the base of the church by Capelastegui.
