Aguilar del Río Alhama is a municipality in the district of Cervera, La Rioja. It lies among low mountains in the foothills of the Sistema Ibérico mountain range. It is part of the Lower Rioja region through which the River Alhama crosses.
-Location: It is part of the district of Cervera del Río Alhama.
-Area: 54.2 km2.
-Height: 637 metres.
-Populated areas, neighbourhoods or villages: The villages of Gutur and Inestrillas.
-Economy: Theses are farming villages (a lot of asparagus is grown) and some animals are also farmed. Population numbers have dropped dramatically over the last few years.

Alfaro is a city and municipality within the autonomous region of La Rioja. Alfaro is in the east of the province, in the Lower Rioja area. It is the main city in the district of Alfaro and the largest municipality in the whole of La Rioja; it borders the autonomous region of Navarre. On the 1 January 2009, the population was 9,883 according to data from the Spanish national institute of statistics (INE). It is the fifth most populated city after Logroño, Calahorra, Arnedo and Haro. The River Ebro crosses the north of the municipality and the River Alhama flows into the Ebro having encircled Alfaro to the west.

-Area: 193.3 km2.
-Height: 302 metres.
-Economy: The area's biggest industry is food and agriculture with around,60,000 hectares of irrigated land, where fruit and vegetables are grown. Secondary activities include a large canning industry and wood and furniture businesses. Chair production is particularly important and so are products connected to the construction industry: tiles and bricks. The tertiary sector and industry are also important in Alfaro.

Alfaro

Located in Alfaro, La Rioja Baja, with excellent connections by road (N-232) and railway. Near the Parque Natural de Los Sotos del Ebro, where you will find one of the largest colonies of white storks, and close to the most important Roman archaeological sites in the area, stands Bodegas Marqués de Campo Nuble, a hundred-year old Winery, which has successfully culminated its expansion and renovation project by D. José María Ruiz-Mateos y Jiménez de Tejada, current Marqués de Campo Nuble.

The winemaking and crianza (aging) facilities are on a 13 hectare estate with its own vineyard. With a built surface of 8,000 m2, where you can see the bottling plant, aging room, production room, warehouse, professional tasting room, main area and the carvery/grill.

With a capacity of 10,000 barrels, and a production capacity of 6,000,000 kg, we have the latest technological advances in the field of winemaking.

Calahorra

El Museo de la Verdura (Museum of Vegetables) has been designed as an interactive and educational centre, being equipped with new technologies, touch screens and computer games to make the contents more attractive. Throughout the centre, there are 18 audiovisuals presenting different aspects of the most important vegetables of Calahorra, ranging from the land to agriculture, gastronomy and the importance of horticultural products in a healthy diet.

THE CENTRE HAS SIX EXHIBITION SPACES:

1.- “El territorio y el hombre”(Territory and Man): Featuring the characteristics of the lands of Calahorra and La Rioja Baja and farmers' work. It contains a video with three documentaries, a map and model of La Rioja Baja and different elements related to farming.

2.- “La agricultura y la huerta” (Agriculture and Farming): Dealing with irrigation systems, the evolution of farming systems, machinery and tools throughout history, soil strata and religious and popular culture on farming.

3.- “Nuestras verduras”(Our Vegetables): Paying special attention to the growing and production of seven vegetables: artichoke, thistle, onion, cauliflower, asparagus, lettuce and pepper. br />
4.- “La Conserva” (Preserves): Explaining traditional preservation methods, where we can see some labels from Calahorra preserves, a 1920s documentary by Conservas Francisco Moreno and another documentary about the current canning factories.

5- “Otros sistemas de conservación” (Other Systems of Preservation): Presenting pre-prepared and pre-cooked product range: washed, pre-cooked and frozen vegetables.

6- “Todo para comer” (Everything for Eating): Dealing with vegetable gastronomy, showing six videos with recipes from six restaurants in the city and pamphlets with recipes from catering establishments. This space is decorated with different cooking devices and utensils used throughout history.
