Leave Nájera from the Monastery of Santa Maria la Real, on the St James' Way, once past the first ledge and already descending take the first left and leave the pilgrims' route, heading west until you reach the LR 312 turn left towards Cordovín, and cross the town going towards Badarán.
Once in this town go down to the plain of the River Cárdenas along a track that starts after crossing the bridge and do not leave this riverside track until you reach San Millán de la Cogolla.
Once here, and after visiting emblematic Yuso and Suso Monasteries, you can take the Berceo road and follow the LR 206 to Cañas, where a Cistercian Abbey awaits you. In Cañas take a detour along the track to the nearby towns of Canillas de Río Tuerto and Torrecilla sobre Alesanco. From there, you can reach Alesanco on asphalt and after a few kilometres on the LR 206, you reach Azofra from where you can return to Nájera like pilgrims returning from Compostella on the St James' Way.
